Alooba is looking for a Business Intelligence Manager for our client headquartered in Melbourne. This Australian technology company is genuinely one the leaders in its vertical. This is a newly created greenfields role, and as the Business Intelligence Manager you’ll be building a new BI Analytics stream within the global analytics function. You’ll build out a team of high quality, proactive BI Analysts, and create an output-focused team with a “get-stuff-done” mentality.

The BI Analytics team that you will build out, works right across the company with growth, product, content and leadership teams. You’ll lead your team by example with your inquisitive nature, and ability to proactively translate large amounts of data into actionable insights, again and again. You’ll need to have the technical acumen to wrangle, analyse and visualise data, as well as the strong communication skills to convey your insights, and the business acumen to know what matters most.



  • Build out a team of intuitive, data-driven and passionate BI Analysts.
  • Under your technical leadership, lead and coach the team to proactively identify opportunities to ensure our client continually grows through data-informed decision making.
  • Be a key driver and influencer in providing data, insights and recommendations to strategic decisions at our client, impacting their short and longer term strategies.
  • Develop dashboards for our client’s leadership, content, board and other teams, creating the single source of truth and enabling self service BI.
  • Define and advocate metrics to track health and implement highly technical data solutions to tackle business opportunities (segmentation, churn prediction, LTV etc.).
  • Working with the data engineering team, document and communicate requirements for data infrastructure and ETL/ETL processes to ensure your team’s analytics are accurate, timely, deep and efficient.

Skills & Experience

  • At least several years in analytics roles and most likely a few years of people management. Strong senior analysts with some people management experience would be considered.
  • Strong technical skills with a genuine mastery of SQL. You use it day-in, day-out and you dream in joins and unions.
  • You’ll have strong experience in any BI or visualisation tool (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI etc.).
  • Experience with data modeling, understanding data infrastructures and ETL or ELT processes.
  • Experience with lifetime value analysis, churn analysis, customer segmentation etc.
  • You’ll have a solid grasp of statistics; you’ll know your T score from your Z score, and probably have an opinion on the Bayesian vs frequentist debate.
  • You’ll have a strong ‘business brain’, with any entrepreneurial experience highly regarded
