Job Description

We are looking for a front-end architect to join Oracle/Aconex in Melbourne. You will be growing the most widely used online collaboration platform in the world for Construction, Infrastructure, and Energy and Resources projects.

This role reports to Director of Development, will collaborate closely with product strategy, UX design and development teams, lead the Front-End Guild to promote the adoption and advancement of front-end design and development practices.

You will create and promote a central knowledge base of shared tools and common patterns, provide engineers with easy-to-understand, actionable guidance around practices. Analysis and building of UI Pattern Libraries (Design Systems, re-usable components, etc.) will be your daily work. A key focus of the lead is to technically mentor those engineers with an interest in Front End.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and document architectures for front-end applications.
  • Document and assist in defining the functional and technical requirements of different applications.
  • Run reviews to guarantee the structure and design of the applications follow the standards and guidelines.
  • Evaluate new techniques and tools.
  • Design and implement front-end development patterns and practices: building systems, dependency management, testing strategy and frameworks, quality checkers etc.
  • Create and maintain pattern libraries and style guides.
  • Run performance tests and solve issues as they appear.
  • Contribute to team culture, lean and agile ways of working

 Desirable Attributes:

  • UX/UI sensibility: using technical abilities and creativity to design and develop exceptional interfaces.
  • Passionate about programming in JavaScript.
  • Fluent in at least one framework, Angular, React, Vue.js or other related.
  • Familiar with Accessibility guidelines and tools.
  • Familiar with software engineering principles and clean coding practices.  
  • Focus on quality and user experience.
  • Experience with XP practices such as TDD, pairing, CI etc.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools (Jenkins and GitLab).
  • Strong analytical skills, motivated to identify and solve the right problems.
  • Experience working with distributed teams.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
 Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
