Overview of who we are looking for  

Data61 is strengthening its Robotics and AI capabilities and we are offering a number of indefinite opportunities for Research Scientists to join us within the field of Robotics to contribute to our various strategic areas. Locations available across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or remote where requirements can be met.


There are multiple opportunities within our group and we are interesting in having a conversation with you to see where your research fits within the area of human and robotic teaming (for example Robot learning, 3D perception, Soft robotics and/or Navigation). If the below sounds like you then please apply now to express your interest!  

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline area of robotics that may include engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics.  
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications in recognised journals and/or international conferences. 
  • High level written and oral communication skills; including an ability to present research outcomes at national and international conferences. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member or leader of a multi-disciplinary research team, and carry out independent research, to achieve organisational goals. 
  • Experience using scientific programming languages including C++ or Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
